Sarah Klein Santa Cruz Is Sponsoring the “Ride of the Day” on the Livestream and Groom’s Award
Volunteer At All Three Great Meadow Events and Receive Extra Prizes!

THE PLAINS, Virginia – August 2021 – Five Rings Eventing, LLC is pleased to announce a partnership with Sarah Klein Santa Cruz to sponsor the “Ride of the Day” awarded by the livestream commentators and provide a prize to the groom of the horse selected.
The MARS EQUESTRIAN™ Great Meadow International (MARSGMI) takes place in The Plains, Virginia on August 19-22, 2021 and offers CCI4*-S, CCI3*-S, CCI2*-S and preliminary divisions. The event is livestreamed by Horse & Country TV and starting on Friday, H & C livestreams the “Ride of the Day” each competition day starting Friday.
Horse & Country (H&C), the leading international sports network for the active and passionate equestrian community, will provide exclusive coverage of the 2021 MARS Great Meadow International on its streaming service, H&C+.
On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the livestream commentators, Karen O’Connor and Lynn Symansky will determine the Ride of the Day. H&C will then promote the Ride of the Day on its channel.
“As a grass root business, we know how much goes in behind the scenes to make a business work smoothly,” said Jill Grant, President of Sarah Klein Santa Cruz. “With the Ride of the Day we want to honor both the rider and groom who take care of the Horse.”
This is Sarah Klein Santa Cruz’s second year at MARSGMI. With COVID shutting down the Meadow Market last year, Sarah Klein stepped up to be the facemask supplier for the event. The quality of the product was undeniable, so when Sarah Klein wanted to come back in 2021, it was a welcome return.
“SK has stepped up once again with this generous offer of a gift and $300 cash to the groom of the horse selected for the “Ride of the Day” for all three phases,” said Darrin Mollett, who together with David O’Connor run Five Ring’s Eventing, the Organizer of the event. “We cannot over emphasize the contribution of the grooms to these high-level competition horses. It is humbling to see so many people come together to support them.”
Last year, MARSGMI successfully implemented the “Great Meadow Model” to run a safe event during the pandemic. This year will be no different as MARSGMI will return to the same model to allow spectators to enjoy the competition in a safe environment.
Returning for 2021, MARSGMI will offer general admission weekend passes as well as fabulous tailgate options for spectators. Limited vendors, a wine vendor, and food trucks have been invited to enhance the spectator experience.
“Great Meadow is truly a special place in the heart of Northern Virginia horse country,” said O’Connor. “We are especially excited to broaden the reach of this event to be more inclusive of our community members, businesses, and organizations who share our love of open space, animal well-being, and the Piedmont.”
MARSGMI will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and maintain communication with the Great Meadow Foundation, state and local health officials and the USEF and FEI.
