Competitor FAQS
How did Old Tavern Horse Trials come about?
Old Tavern is the little sister to Great Meadow International organized by David O'Connor and Darrin Mollett and came about after Surefire decided not to run anymore after many years of a fabulous competition.
How can I volunteer?
WE ARE VERY LOW ON VOLUNTEERS - if you or anyone in your family or farm have time to help out, please go here to sign up to help - no experience is needed :) We need volunteers to run the competition. All volunteers will get a schooling pass for xc schooling on Tuesday the 27th. We do not open this property for schooling any other time!
What is the arrival plan?
When you get to Great Meadow, please go to Gate 2 and follow the signs back to trailer parking. You can park your cars up by xc start ON FRIDAY and AFTER 5:15 PM on Saturday to walk your courses but we cannot have cars going up the road during competition due to safety.
During the event, you will be directed to park on Meadow Overlook, which is the area outside the racetrack between the road and woods before the road goes into the woods,
Big rigs will park on the hill between the road and the hill (to the right as you drive in) and bumper pulls will park backed into the racetrack (to the left as you drive in).
How does the schooling day work?
The cross country schooling is from 8 am to 1 pm on Tuesday, September 27. Parking will be the same as above.
All people schooling must have a grounds person and sign a waiver. There will be someone on hand to check you in.
Volunteers for Middleburg HT, GMI, AND Old Tavern HT receive a schooling pass for one horse per show at which they volunteered.
Additional horses and non-volunteers must pay $65 per horse via Venmo (@GreatMeadow-International-2), Zelle (greatmeadowintl@gmail.com), or check or cash. See the Venmo QR code below.
Is there a food vendor?
We apologize but we will not have a food vendor.
How can I pay for my fees?
You can pay for ice/shavings via Venmo (@GreatMeadow-International-2), Zelle (greatmeadowintl@gmail.com) or credit card; if by credit card there is a credit card convenience fee. You may also leave a blank check. See the Venmo QR code below.
Will there be ice and water available?
- We will not have ice for sale on the grounds, so please plan accordingly. We have no water where the trailer parking is there is water at the end of XC and back up by the polo arena right when you pull into Great Meadow - so please plan accordingly.
