Accessibility

To enhance the experience of GMI patrons (competitors, support staff, spectators, volunteers, etc.), the OC will be providing complimentary services to make the venue more accessible for those with physical limitations.

First, there will be a dedicated shuttle for those needing assistance getting around the venue.  Patrons seeking accommodations must request accommodation 14 days in advance of the start of competition, provide substantiating documentation (doctor’s note, DMV handicap placard, or equivalent) with their registration, and display the documentation (if personal documentation is not available, the OC will provide) throughout the event.

In addition, patrons needing assistance with getting about the venue are permitted to bring authorized personal motorized vehicles to the venue provided they have formally requested such accommodation 14 days in advance of the start of competition, provided substantiating documentation (doctor’s note, DMV handicap placard, or equivalent), have an authorized motorized vehicle, and display the documentation (if personal documentation is not available, the OC will provide) throughout the event.  Patrons seeking this accommodation must include motorized vehicle type and weight on registration form (to be approved or denied along with disability accommodation). Only vehicles weighing less than X lbs. will be approved.  Please note that motorized vehicles may be prohibited from accessing certain sections of the course or venue during or following poor weather conditions or in other circumstances in the OC’s discretion.

Next, the OC will provide tents, overhangs, or other covered seating areas for patrons needing assistance provided they have formally requested such accommodation 14 days in advance, provide substantiating documentation (doctor’s note, DMV handicap placard, or equivalent), and display the documentation (if personal documentation is not available, the OC will provide) throughout the event.  The OC will provide signage asking non-disabled patrons to allow disabled patrons priority to all covered areas.

Finally, the venue will provide clearly marked accessible parking in the general admission viewing areas, parking, and near the warmup and main arenas.  Patrons seeking special parking accommodations must formally request such accommodations at least 14 days before the event start date, provide substantiating documentation (doctor’s note, DMV handicap placard, or equivalent), and display the documentation (if personal documentation is not available, the OC will provide) throughout the event.  The OC will provide parking attendants with a list of approved vehicles that will require special parking accommodations.  Authorized vehicles may only be moved between classes.

Please note that, to be fair, the OC will establish a warning system for abuses including a yellow card (for competitors) or expulsion from event (for all others).

The OC will continue to evaluate the needs of patrons and the layout of the facility to further improve the experience of its patrons.
